In Murder Mystery 2 (MM2), Ancient weapons rank among the rarest and most coveted collectibles, typically associated with major seasonal events or limited-time rewards. Since many Ancient weapons are no longer obtainable through standard means, they command exceptionally high value in the player trading market. This article provides a detailed overview of Ancient weapons in the game, helping you understand them and find the right one for you.

Overview

Ancient weapons represent the second-highest rarity tier in Murder Mystery 2, surpassed only by the Unique category. There are relatively few Ancient weapons in the game—numbering only in the dozens—which underscores their scarcity and value.

Ancient weapons were first introduced to the game by developer Nikilis in mid-2018. Since 2019, all Ancient weapons have been designed by IDontHaveAUse. A distinctive feature of these weapons is that—unlike traditional blades—almost all Ancient knives take the form of axes or scythes. In-game, the names of Ancient weapons are displayed in purple to distinguish them from other tiers.

Summary of Acquisition Methods

1. Purchase During Events (Expired)

Early Ancient weapons could be obtained via Gamepass purchases; for instance, Batwing and Icewing were sold for 2,499 Robux during the 2018 Halloween and Christmas events, respectively.

2. Event Token Redemption (Expired)

Most Ancient weapons were originally obtained by redeeming event currency (such as Candies or Snow Tokens) accumulated during Halloween or Christmas events.

3. Trading (Primary Current Method)

As the aforementioned events have concluded, Ancient weapons can currently only be acquired through player-to-player trading.

4. Shop Purchase

For a fast, safe, and cost-effective acquisition method, players can visit the Murder Mystery 2 shop; nearly all weapons are listed there, and players are welcome to make purchases.

5. Special Gifts (Extremely Rare)

A select few Ancient weapons (such as Nik’s Scythe) can only be gifted directly to specific players by the developer, Nikilis.

Notable Ancient Weapons

Nik’s Scythe

Value: 25,000,000 (based on the Seer as the standard unit of value)—this is the most valuable weapon in the entire MM2 game.

Nik’s Scythe was never officially released as an obtainable item. It can only be obtained in two ways: either by being gifted directly by the game creator, Nikilis, to close friends or players who helped report game bugs; or through player-to-player trading. According to community statistics, only seven players in the entire game own this weapon. It is a scythe-style weapon with a unique design, representing one of the most elite collectibles in MM2. Any unauthorized player found possessing this weapon risks having it removed from their inventory.

It is important to note the existence of counterfeit MM2 games (such as "Punch’s MM2" or "Zyleak’s MM2"); while these unofficial games may offer code redemptions for items with similar names, they are unrelated to the Nik’s Scythe found in the authentic Murder Mystery 2.

Harvester

Value: 920 (based on the Seer as the standard unit of value)

The Harvester was originally obtainable during the 2021 Halloween event's Main Event by purchasing Tier 30 and spending 80,000 Candies. Reaching the final tier to purchase the Harvester required a total of 97,400 Candies, equivalent to approximately 6,000 Robux (about $75 USD). The event has since concluded, and the item can now only be acquired through trading. The Harvester resembles a crossbow. It features unique firing effects—the arrow leaves an emerald-green trail and the arrow itself is green, while the body of the crossbow is crafted from dark stone and steel. The Harvester was the first Ancient tier firearm in the game. Along with the Icepiercer and Gingerscope, it is one of only three firearms in MM2 to feature unique firing sound effects.

Historical Note: Upon its release, the Harvester was affected by a massive item duplication ("duping") exploit, leading the developer, Nikilis, to ban a large number of accounts that possessed the item.
