Observation Haki, also called Instinct, is unlocked in the First Sea. The unlock itself is simple once you have the three requirements: reach Level 300, defeat Saber Expert in the Jungle, and save 750,000 Beli. After that, head to the Upper Skylands and buy the ability from the Instinct Teacher.
Reach Level 300 → defeat Saber Expert in the Jungle → save 750,000 Beli → go to the second sub-island of Upper Skylands → climb the large temple → talk to the Instinct Teacher → pay 750,000 Beli.
Observation Haki Requirements
Do these three things before traveling to Upper Skylands. The Instinct Teacher will only teach the ability after the requirements are met.
- Reach Level 300. This is the minimum level required to learn Observation Haki.
- Defeat Saber Expert. The boss is in the Jungle, and you need to have beaten him before the Instinct Teacher will let you purchase the ability.
- Bring 750,000 Beli. This is the purchase price for Observation Haki.
Step 1: Defeat Saber Expert in the Jungle
Your first combat requirement is Saber Expert. Find him in the Jungle and defeat the boss once. You do not need to farm him repeatedly for Observation Haki. The important part is having the required defeat completed before you visit the teacher.
Step 2: Find the Instinct Teacher in Upper Skylands
Once you have Level 300, the Saber Expert defeat, and enough Beli, travel to Upper Skylands in the First Sea.
- Go to Upper Skylands.
- Continue to the second sub-island of Upper Skylands.
- Look for the large temple on the island.
- Climb to the top of the temple.
- Find the Instinct Teacher and talk to him.
If you are struggling to spot the NPC, use the Thunder God boss as a landmark. The Instinct Teacher is stationed nearby.
Step 3: Buy Observation Haki
Talk to the Instinct Teacher after all three requirements are complete. Choose the option to learn the ability and pay 750,000 Beli.
Observation Haki is also called Instinct in Blox Fruits. Once purchased, it becomes available immediately. You can use it to automatically dodge incoming attacks, detect enemies through solid surfaces, and see enemy health and energy from a distance.

Unlocking Instinct is only the beginning. Its range and effectiveness improve as you train it. The key is to use Observation Haki while enemies attack you and successfully dodge those attacks.
- Activate Observation Haki before entering combat.
- Fight enemies that can attack you consistently.
- Keep the ability active and focus on getting successful dodges.
- Continue using it during normal grinding so the training happens alongside your progression.
You do not need a separate quest just to train the basic ability. Put Instinct into your normal combat routine and let the dodges build its progress over time.
Useful Tips Before You Go
- Save the 750,000 Beli first. Reaching the required level and then discovering you are short on money only adds another grind.
- Finish Saber Expert before traveling. The boss defeat is a hard requirement for the purchase.
- Remember the temple. The Instinct Teacher is at the top of the large temple on the second Upper Skylands sub-island.
- Use Instinct while grinding. Training it during regular combat keeps the progression moving without creating a separate farming task.
- Check your requirements if the teacher refuses. Level 300, Saber Expert, and 750,000 Beli are the three things to verify.
